Paul Parsons

Our overview courses are conducted by Paul Parsons. Paul began his career working 3 years for National Supply Company (now part of National Oilwell Varco), a major oilfield equipment supplier. Thereafter, he worked 24 years for Occidental Petroleum Corporation, one of the largest oil and gas companies in the United States. At Occidental, Paul worked on a variety of domestic and international projects and served as the local chief financial officer for Occidental’s operating divisions in The Netherlands and the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico.

Paul is thoroughly familiar with both the business and operational aspects of the oil and gas industry and is directly involved in the development of our courses. He networks throughout the industry to acquire the most up-to-date materials available and he personally scripted and directed our comprehensive video on oil and gas drilling.  Paul has spoken on oil and gas topics in a variety of forums including the American Petroleum Institute, the Houston Geological Society and the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists. He has also written a widely-read series of articles about the Macondo well blowout.

Paul has a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from the University of Houston, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
